Medora Celebrates Record-Breaking Week as Historic Year Continues

Posted August 21, 2026

MEDORA, N.D. – The Medora Musical reached a new milestone Aug. 9-16, welcoming 12,572 guests during the week—the largest single-week attendance in the show’s history.

The record-breaking week adds to a historic 2026 season for the Medora Musical, which continues to draw audiences to the Burning Hills Amphitheatre for its 62nd season. The milestone comes during a landmark year for Medora, with the opening of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library offering visitors from across the country another reason to explore the historic Badlands town.

“This has been a historic year for Medora, and reaching this milestone is a meaningful moment for our organization and our community,” said Clarence Sitter, CEO of the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation (TRMF). “We’re grateful to everyone who has helped make this season so memorable, from our performers and staff to the thousands of guests who continue to choose Medora.”

The Medora Musical continues its 2026 season through Sept. 12, giving audiences several more weeks to experience the show under the stars in the Burning Hills Amphitheatre.

“It’s been an incredible season for the Medora Musical, and while the show comes to a close in September, there’s still a lot to look forward to in Medora,” said Brock White, marketing director for TRMF. “Fall brings a whole different feel to Medora, and it’s a beautiful time to be here.”

As summer gives way to fall, the Badlands begin to take on new colors, cooler temperatures, and a slower pace. Visitors can take in Medora’s fall scenery while spending a day on the golf course, exploring the trails or enjoying live entertainment, offering a chance to experience the community in a different season.
