MEDORA, ND — Medora, North Dakota has been named a Gold Winner of the 2024 Travel Weekly Magellan Awards for its excellence as a family travel destination. Standout entertainment brought to the stage by RWS Global, and the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation connects thousands of visitors to rich history and unforgettable experiences in Medora. The honor comes as the Medora Musical prepares to celebrate a major milestone – its 60th anniversary – marking six decades of history, humor, and good old-fashioned family fun.

Awarded by Travel Weekly, the Magellan Awards recognize top-tier travel experiences, with winners evaluated by industry leaders. Travel Weekly editor-in-chief Arnie Weissmann praised this year’s honorees, emphasizing their achievements in an increasingly competitive travel landscape. “I’ve been involved in every Magellan program from its inception, and this year’s group has impressed me like none that came before,” Weissmann noted.

Each summer, the Medora Musical mixes new elements with classics, honoring the spirit of the American West and Teddy Roosevelt while showcasing music that ranges from Dolly to disco. The 60th anniversary of the show will run from June 4 – September 13. Fans can secure tickets early during Medora’s Black Friday sale, or by becoming Rough Rider Members.

“The Medora Musical has been a family favorite for generations, and we’re committed to creating experiences that are just as exciting and welcoming for today’s families. I’m proud to work on building a destination where my own kids can enjoy the fun and magic of Medora—and one that families everywhere can enjoy together, year after year,” said Kinley R. Slauter, Attractions and Entertainment Director for the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation.

But it’s not just the Medora Musical drawing families. Visitors can start the day with the Medora Gospel Brunch, get inspired by Teddy Roosevelt live on stage, or catch free shows around town featuring everything from folk tunes to kids’ songs and stories. Plus, Medora is committed to expanding families’ opportunities to get together in the great outdoors – including at Point to Point Park, where families can enjoy pool, lazy river, zipline, mini golf, hiking, and more.

With its 60th season just around the corner, both the Medora Musical and the town of Medora continue to offer experiences for all ages – and invite you and your family to experience it, generation after generation.
