The Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation is participating in Giving Hearts Day—one of the biggest days of giving in the Midwest!

This year, we’re aiming to raise $60,000 to support the four-legged stars of the Medora Musical – our incredible horses! These stars bring the Western spirit to life on stage every night, and your generosity helps make it all possible.

Every dollar raised will go toward feeding, training, purchasing, and sheltering the horses that make the Medora Musical unforgettable.

PLUS: your gift will be matched up to $35,000 thanks to a generous challenge gift from two anonymous donors! That means $20 becomes $40; $100 becomes $200. And every gift means we can connect more visitors to the heritage of the West and help our horses.

“The Medora Musical tells a story that brings Western America back to life in the outdoor setting, and the horses are the heartbeat. Each year 15-20 Stables horses return or are trained to perform nightly in the Medora Musical. When the hand falls and the cue is given, the horses know. I often say when training my wranglers to perform, "Just sit there, he will take care of you." And they do. These are no ordinary horses, and they have no simplistic job. During the day he will quietly pack your 8 year old daughter to one of the best overlook views in Medora, and at night he will listen for the same little girl to scream "HUGO!" as he enters to present the American Flag or flies up the back hill, real guns blazing, as he charges San Juan Hill. Nothing compares to the experience of thundering hooves as they devour the ground beneath them right before your own eyes and having potentially taken a ride on that same horse yourself.”
